I wish that I would take the time to write down everything that I learn about myself and the Lord from my little girls.
Just now I gave them some ice cream that was supposed to be a treat yesterday. They have done nothing deserving a treat but I gave them some ice cream anyway, because I love them and wanted them to have it. DD1 says to me, "Ooo, is this for a good girl?" I said, "No, it's because I'M a good girl." BAM!!
Do I have anything because I'm a good girl? No. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father, because HE IS GOOD.
Earlier I told her that she needed to put her sippy cup in the sink, please. I walk out, walk back in and she's closing the dishwasher. "I put my sippy cup in the dishwasher," she says so matter of factly. "Take it out and put it in the sink NOW," I say so demandingly. :) "You do not know best. I do." (The lid WAS still on the sippy cup after all.) BAM!! It was as if the Lord spoke to me using my lips. Sigh. In case you missed it, He told me through my own words and thoughts that I sometimes do not obey Him because I think I know BETTER what to do! Oh, me. Just how stupid is that anyway?
I hope that I am through learning from her bad behavior, I really do.
Wow, convicting!!! Grace is so often what is given us and we need to be so much more gracious to our children. I just finished the BEST book on parenting...Give Them Grace by ELyse Fitzpatrick. An excellent, excellent book.
